Seminar: Jennifer Macalady, May 13th, 11AM EDT

On May 13th, 2025, the LIFE RCN will be excited to introduce Dr. Jennifer Macalady, professor in the Department of Geosciences at Pennsylvania State University, director of the Ecology Institute, and director of the International Biology Course that takes place in Italy’s Frasassi Cave System. The title of Dr. Macalady’s talk is “ Microbial pyrite production”.

Dr. Macalady will be joined by early career scientist, Dr. Alta Howells, a research associate at the University of Colorado, Boulder and an affiliate at NASA Ames Research Center through Blue Marble Space Institute of Sciences. The title of their talk is ““Evidence for Hyperalkaliphilic Methanotrophy in Serpentinizing Systems, Heavy Delta 13 CH4 is Not Necessarily Indicative of Abiotic CH4 Production”
